Two men sentenced to 250-plus years in Sacramento County child sex assault cases

Two men were sentenced last week by Sacramento Superior Court judges to multi-century prison terms for separate child sexual assault cases, each of which involved multiple victims, the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office said.

Jose Iniguez, 42, and Vladimir Sinigur, 31, received prison terms Friday of 275 years and 250 years to life, respectively, after recent convictions for more than a dozen counts each of sexual assault on minors between ages 4 and 14, the district attorney’s office said Tuesday in a pair of news releases.

Iniguez sexually assaulted five children, all of them female family members age 14 or younger, a jury concluded. Two victims first disclosed to each other and then to other family members in 2015 that they had been assaulted by Iniguez when they were between 6 and 14 years old. In 2017, three more girls came forward to say Iniguez assaulted them when they were between ages of 7 and 12, according to the DA news release.

Iniguez, arrested in 2017 following investigation by the Sacramento Police Department, fled to Mexico to avoid prosecution but was arrested and extradited back to Sacramento County in March 2019, authorities said. A jury in December found the defendant guilty of eight counts of committing lewd acts with children under age 14; five counts of doing so by force, duress, menace or fear; and one additional count of committing a lewd act on a child 14 or 15 years old. Judge Steven Gevercer sentenced Iniguez to 275 years to life in state prison.

A jury convicted Sinigur in January on 18 total counts of sexual assault against three children ages 4, 6 and 7, beginning around 2016, the DA news release said. Siniguar disclosed his crimes to a family member in January 2018, and that family reported the crimes to law enforcement, authorities said.

An investigation by the Rancho Cordova Police Department found evidence confirming the abuse, and Sinigur “confessed to numerous acts of sexual assault on each of the three children” when questioned by officers, the news release said.

Sinigur’s conviction, on two counts of sexual intercourse with a child 10 years of age or younger, 10 counts of lewd acts with children under age 14 and six counts of oral copulation with a child 10 years old or younger, resulted in a sentence of 250 years to life in prison, handed down Friday by Judge Maryanna Gilliard.

Each case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Catrina Ranum.
