Suspect at large after crashing stolen car during pursuit, Sacramento police say

Police are working to identify and find a suspect who escaped officers after a brief vehicle pursuit Tuesday morning in Sacramento, crashing a stolen car into a parked vehicle and then fleeing on foot, authorities said.

Sacramento Police Department spokesman Officer Karl Chan said officers found an “occupied stolen vehicle” shortly before 7 a.m. in the area of Lampasas Avenue and Evergreen Street, near Old North Sacramento.

Police initiated a short pursuit, which ended on Traction Avenue, where the suspect vehicle struck an unoccupied, parked car before bailing on foot, Chan said. Officers set up a perimeter to search for the person.

The suspect was not found and remains outstanding, according to Chan.

Police are doing follow-up investigation to identify the suspect.

The parked car sustained only minor damage, Chan said.
