Sacramento sheriff’s detectives arrest high school coach accused of molesting girl
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday afternoon that an Elk Grove High School coach was arrested two weeks ago on suspicion of inappropriately touching a girl.
Thomas Rossow has since been released from jail, sheriff’s officials announced in a news release. They did not include the girl’s age or indicate the whether the girl was a student at the school or if Rossow was her coach.
The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office on Feb. 13 filed a criminal complaint accusing Rossow of annoying or molesting a child, a misdemeanor charge. Rossow is scheduled to make his first court appearance Monday morning for an arraignment hearing.
Sheriff’s officials said Rossow, 67, was the head coach for the Elk Grove High School cross country team when detectives began investigating him. They also said Thursday that Rossow was employed by the school for more than 30 years, but was no longer employed at Elk Grove High.
Investigators asked anyone with information about Rossow during his employment at Elk Grove High to call sheriff’s detectives at (916) 874-5070 or the Sheriff’s Office’s non-emergency line at 916-874-5115. The public also can provide confidential information through the sheriff’s website at sacsheriff.com or by calling 916-874-8477.
