Northern California woman found dead in her home. Her son is accused of killing her
A Butte County man is accused of killing his mother, a 68-year-old woman who was found dead inside her Chico home with a traumatic head wound, sheriff’s officials said.
Prosecutors have charged Aaron Connors with murder in the death of his mother ,Susan Robb, according to Butte Superior Court records. Connors on Monday afternoon made his first court appearance since his arrest last week. He has not entered a plea in the murder case and his arraignment was postponed until Wednesday.
Robb was found dead Thursday at her home in the 4300 block of Keefer Road, just east of Highway 99, according to a news release from the Butte County Sheriff’s Office.
Her roommate called 911 about 5 p.m. to report that he returned home from work and found Robb dead inside. He told authorities that Robb appeared to have suffered a serious head wound and her vehicle was missing.
While deputies were heading to the home, dispatchers received a call from a resident on Felicidad Lane. The resident reported a suspicious vehicle parked outside. Sheriff’s officials checked the license plate number and determined the suspicious vehicle was registered to Connors, who was estranged from his mother.
Sheriff’s detectives began looking for Connors, 45, and later received information that he might be at Gold Country Casino in Oroville. Deputies found Robb’s missing vehicle in the casino parking lot.
The deputies, with help from casino staff, placed Connors under surveillance while he was inside the casino. Deputies waited near Robb’s vehicle and took Connors into custody after he walked out. Sheriff’s officials said detectives gathered evidence and information that later led to Connors’ arrest on suspicion of murder in his mother’s death.
