Detectives arrest suspect in south Sacramento deadly shooting

Sheriff’s officials announced Friday afternoon that detectives had made an arrest in the October shooting death of a 23-year-old man in south Sacramento.

Marquese Fields, 29, was arrested on suspicion of murder in the shooting of Frank O’Neil, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office announced on its Facebook page. Fields was booked at the county jail late Wednesday, and he also faces a charge of being a felon in possession of a gun.

The fatal shooting occurred in the early hours of Oct. 6. Sheriff’s officials said O’Neil was shot near the intersection of Bogey Court and Par Parkway, just west of Power Inn Road.

Sheriff’s detectives were still investigation connection between O’Neil and Fileds. The detectives did not release any other details about the homicide investigation.

Fields is scheduled to make his first appearance in Sacramento Superior Court on Monday afternoon, according to jail records.
