Sheriff’s officials have identified and arrested a suspect in connection with a car-to-car shooting that left a man dead early Wednesday morning in Rancho Cordova.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday announced the arrest of 20-year-old Alexander Tijerina, who authorities said a day earlier involved an occupant of one vehicle shooting into another vehicle near Sunrise Boulevard and Highway 50.

The coroner identified the victim as 32-year-old Brandon Struwe of Rancho Cordova in a report released Thursday evening. Struwe suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died at a hospital following the shooting, which happened around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Detectives were able to identify Tijerina and the suspect vehicle based off witness interviews, according to a sheriff’s news release.

Tijerina has been booked into the Sacramento County jail on a charge of murder, jail records show. He is ineligible for bail.
