A Woodland man was arrested Tuesday evening in connection to prowling and conspiracy, according the Auburn Police Department.

Officers responded to the 200 block of Brook Road in Auburn after reports of a man looking into vehicle with a flashlight, police said in a news release. Dwayne Durant was detained by responding officers, who later learned that Durant, 28, was working with a second person, which led to the additional charge of conspiracy, police said.

“This is a perfect example of community oriented policing. Community members serve as the eyes of the Police Department, when police officers can’t be present at a particular location,” Officer Vlade Grkovic said in the release. “Had this citizen not been the Police Department’s eyes, Durant would have likely gotten away with committing another crime.”

Police said Durant is being held at Placer County Jail, where his bail has been set at $10,000.
