Man injured in Rancho Cordova shooting and gunman at large, Sacramento deputies say
A man was injured Sunday afternoon in what detectives believe was a targeted shooting in Rancho Cordova.
Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Sgt. Tess Deterding said deputies got a call from the victim’s sister around 2:35 p.m., saying that there had been a shooting in the 2700 block of El Caprice Drive.
Responding deputies found a man who had suffered at least one gunshot wound to his upper body, but was conscious and able to talk, Deterding said.
The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment as deputies formed a perimeter and searched the area, but didn’t find the gunman.
Deterding said that the shooting does not appear random and the threat to the public is low, although the victim told deputies that the shooter was unknown to him.
The shooting remains under investigation by detectives with the Sheriff’s Office.
