Hummer driver trying to escape robbery crashes on top of a car, Sacramento police say

A woman trying to escape from an attempted robbery crashed her Hummer sport utility vehicle on top of a car Wednesday afternoon in north Sacramento.

The crash was reported shortly before 1:20 p.m. near the intersection of Norwood and Jessie avenues, just north of Interstate 80. Officers arrived at the scene and learned that an attempted robbery had occurred, said Officer Karl Chan, a Sacramento Police Department spokesman.

Chan said the unidentified suspect tried to rob the driver in the black Hummer SUV. He said the Humvee driver tried to escape in her vehicle, but she crashed on top of a gray sedan that was not involved in the attempted robbery.

It was unclear how the Hummer came to rest on top of the car. There were minor injuries reported in the crash, Chan said.

The attempted robbery suspect ran away before police arrived. Police were still looking for the suspect Wednesday evening.
