Passenger injured by gunfire from other vehicle in Yolo County drive-by shooting

The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office on Friday was investigating a drive-by shooting that injured a passenger in a vehicle after someone fired a gun from another vehicle on a rural road near Winters.

The shooting was reported about 1:30 p.m. Friday on County Road 89, just north of Winters and west of Interstate 505, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.

The victim was shot as the suspect vehicle passed by. Sheriff’s officials said the victim suffered a single gunshot wound and was driven to a local hospital, before he was transferred to a trauma center. There were no further details about the victim’s condition.

Investigators described the suspect vehicle as a small, dark-colored sedan that was last seen heading north on Country Road 89. They had no further suspect descriptions.
