Rocklin police say intruder in home’s backyard ran away, fired gun at resident

Police investigators on Friday were looking for an intruder who fired a gun at a Rocklin resident during an encounter in a home’s backyard.

The shooting occurred at the home in the 3200 block of Outlook Drive, just east of Sunset Boulevard in Rocklin.

About 3 a.m. Friday, the resident heard a noise coming from the home’s back yard, according to a news release from the Rocklin Police Department.

The resident opened a back door to the backyard, police officials said, and the unknown suspect was seen running away. The suspect, as he ran away, fired a handgun about five times at the resident, according to police.

Some of the bullets penetrated walls at the home, but police said nobody was struck by gunfire or injured in the shooting.
