Deputies arrest New York woman squatting in Lake Tahoe home, Placer sheriff’s say
A New York woman with an arrest warrant from Los Angeles County was found over the weekend apparently squatting inside a Lake Tahoe-area home, the Placer County sheriff’s officials said.
An observant neighbor spotted a suspect climbing through a window to enter her neighbor’s home in Kings Beach. The neighbor called the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies arrived and saw the suspect, later identified as Ellen Elizabeth Maloney, still inside the home. The 30-year-old woman came outside the home and was cooperative with deputies, sheriff’s officials said Thursday on Facebook.
While questioning Maloney, the deputies entered the home and found numerous personal items belonging to her. It appeared she had been living at the home, sheriff’s officials said.
Maloney was arrested on suspicion of burglary and burglary during a state of emergency, and she had a warrant for her arrest on reckless driving charge from Los Angeles County, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
She was booked at the County Jail on Saturday and was released Tuesday with an order to appear in court, according to jail records.
