California state worker electrocuted on the job in Sacramento identified by coroner
The state worker electrocuted while on the job in downtown Sacramento on Friday morning was identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
Jack McGarey died just after 1 a.m. at 1616 Capitol Ave., where the California Department of Public Health building stands. It was ruled an accident by the Coroner’s Office.
The Sacramento Fire Department responded to reports of an electrocution and arrived at the state building to find McGarey unresponsive.
Firefighters attempted life-saving measures and performed CPR on McGarey, 51, before taking him to a nearby hospital.
The fire department previously said that he was in critical condition and seriously injured.
