Northern California rape suspect surrenders after sheriff posts photo on social media

A man who was wanted on suspicion of rape surrendered to Placer County authorities after investigators disseminated his photo on social media.

Dru Skye Hernandez was arrested Friday when he turned himself in, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office. Hernandez was being sought on a $600,000 felony warrant for multiple counts of rape by force or fear and forced sexual penetration of a minor, authorities said.

Hernandez, 22, turned himself in a day after the Sheriff’s Office posted his name and photograph on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, noting he had ties to the Colfax and Woodland areas.

Authorities have not released any additional information regarding the case.
