South Sacramento shooting victim identified by coroner as 18-year-old Elk Grove man
The victim in a fatal south Sacramento shooting last week was identified by the county coroner Sunday morning.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office said 18-year-old Daniel Thomas of Elk Grove was shot and killed early Wednesday morning.
Deputies were sent out around 2 a.m. to the 5900 block of Stacy Avenue, north of Mack Road at Highway 99, after receiving reports of a shooting, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
Responding deputies found Thomas, who suffered a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another victim who survived was taken to a hospital for treatment after suffering a gunshot wound to the lower body, deputies said.
Sheriff’s officials have not released a motive for the shooting.
