Sacramento rapper Bris dead at 24, killed in weekend shooting, police say
A homicide investigation remains underway following the weekend shooting death of an emerging Sacramento rapper, according to city police and the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
The coroner identified the victim as 24-year-old Christopher Treadwell, who rapped using the stage name Bris.
Treadwell was pronounced dead near Franklin Boulevard and Fruitridge Road in south Sacramento, where officers responded for reports of shots fired shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday, the Sacramento Police Department said in a news release. Officers also determined there had been a solo-vehicle collision nearby prior to the shooting, which investigators said was “related.”
No arrests have been made and no suspect description has been released, as the department said Sunday homicide detectives would canvass the neighborhood for evidence.
Bris had released several music videos on YouTube, all within the past year, and was active on Instagram. The rapper’s most successful single, “Panhandling,” had 2 million plays on YouTube as of Tuesday.
Witnesses or anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact the police dispatch center at 916-808-5471 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-4357.
