Man killed in early-morning shooting in Sacramento’s South City Farms area, police say

Homicide detectives are investigating after a man was shot and killed early Wednesday morning in Sacramento’s South City Farms neighborhood, police said.

Officers responded shortly after 2:30 a.m. to a shooting in the 2900 block of 33rd Avenue, where they located a man with a life-threatening gunshot wound, the Sacramento Police Department said in a news release.

Police and Sacramento Fire Department personnel attempted life-saving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the news release.

An investigation is underway, including a neighborhood canvass for witnesses, but information on the fatal shooting remains limited, with no suspect description available and no motive known, police said.

The victim’s identity will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office pending notification of family.
