Teen, 17, killed in shooting on Mack Road — police say another teen arrested at scene

One teenager is dead and another was arrested on suspicion of shooting him after a late-night shooting Wednesday in the Valley Hi/North Laguna section of the city, Sacramento police said.

Officers responded around 10:30 p.m. to a report of a shooting in the 5500 block of Mack Road near Center Parkway. Upon arrival, officers found a victim with a gunshot wound. The victim, a 17-year-old boy, was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said another 17-year-old boy was taken into custody at the scene and is being held at Juvenile Hall; the unidentified teen could face homicide charges, police said.

The agency said its continuing to investigate the incident.
