One person killed and another is wounded in Roseville shooting, police say

One person is dead and another injured Monday after a shooting Monday evening at a Roseville intersection that was expected to be closed for several hours as police investigate.

The shooting occurred around 5:30 p.m. at Riverside Avenue and Cirby Way, just north of Interstate 80, according to the Roseville Police Department.

Officers arrived and found two people with apparent gunshot wounds. Both were taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

One of the people has since been pronounced dead, according to police. Officials said the status of the other person wounded in the shooting was unknown.

It was unclear to police whether the people involved in the shooting knew each other. Detectives were working to gather suspect information and police believe the shooting suspect left the area in a vehicle.

About 7:45 p.m., police said they did not believe there was any remaining threat in the neighborhood. But they also asked residents to stay away from the area as authorities continued to work at the scene.

Officials expected vehicle traffic would be impacted throughout the area, since authorities planned to have the intersection closed for several hours.
