Rancho Cordova police find drugs and loaded gun while investigating motorcycle crash
A crash involving a vehicle and a motorcycle in Rancho Cordova led to a seizure of methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin and ecstasy pills, along with a loaded handgun, authorities said.
The discovery of the drugs and the gun resulted in the arrest of Nathan Hutchings, 48, of Placerville, the Rancho Cordova Police Department announced on its Facebook page Friday.
Hutchings, who was driving a motorcycle, was involved in the crash on Monday near Folsom Boulevard and Mercantile Drive in Rancho Cordova, according to the agency, which is operated by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office. There were no reports of major injuries in the crash.
Deputies determined that Hutchings was involved in another crash hours earlier in Rancho Cordova, and they suspected that Hutchings had been driving the motorcycle while under the influence of drugs, police officials said.
During a search, the deputies found the a loaded gun, 180 grams of meth, seven grams of cocaine, eight grams of heroin and 27 ecstasy pills, according to the agency.
Officials said Hutchings was arrested and booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence, along with gun and drug charges.
