Sacramento Police say they have located the vehicle that struck and killed a 32-year-old man last week in South Natomas.

Officers identified the vehicle — a black Chevy Impala — nearly six days after the July 12 hit-and-run that killed the man, identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as Steven Austin of Sacramento. The department did not disclose additional details about the vehicle, but said the search for the driver was ongoing.

The vehicle had fled the scene just before 3 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Northgate Boulevard and West El Camino Avenue, prior to the arrival of officers. They found Austin lying in the roadway with major injuries. Sacramento Fire personnel declared him dead at the scene.
