Coroner’s Office releases name of Sacramento man shot to death in broad daylight
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office on Friday released the name of a 23-year-old man who was killed last week in a shooting in broad daylight.
Malik Hatcher, of Sacramento, was gunned down on July 24 in what investigators believe was a “targeted” shooting, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
The fatal shooting was reported shortly after 11 a.m. in the 7600 block of Harvest Woods Drive, just east of Stockton Boulevard and north of Elsie Avenue.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived in the area and found the injured man suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Sheriff’s officials said the deputies tried to save the man’s life as medics responded. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives do not know the motive behind the shooting and officials have not released any suspect information.
