Police tape at crime scene

Two men and a minor in Woodland are facing robbery charges after being arrested for an attempted strong-arm robbery at an ATM, police say.

The incident occurred July 21 at Bank of America on Main Street, where two suspects struggled with a woman over her wallet after she used the ATM. The suspects fled to a McDonald’s across the street, where another suspect drove a black BMW away from the scene, according to the Woodland Police Department.

The investigating officer used witness descriptions and surveillance video to locate the suspects, immediately recognizing the vehicle description as belonging to a person with whom the officer had previous contact.

On July 23, a minor was released into the custody of his parents with a notice to appear for probable cause for robbery and conspiracy to commit a felony.

Daniel Rice, 21, was arrested July 30 and Nathaniel Madrid, 19, was arrested July 31. The men, both of Woodland, were booked at Yolo County Jail.

Rice and Madrid were arrested on probable cause for robbery, conspiracy to commit a felony and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, police said. Madrid also faces a probation violation.
