Police arrest man after a vehicle hits woman riding Lime scooter in South Lake Tahoe

Officers arrested a man suspected of hitting woman riding a shareable electric scooter Tuesday in South Lake Tahoe after he reportedly left the scene in his vehicle, officials said.

Colin Hauge of South Lake Tahoe was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run at his home, according to a news release from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department.

The vehicle struck the woman riding a Lime e-scooter near the intersection of Johnson Boulevard and Fairway Drive, police said. Officers were called to the scene.

Witnesses told police the vehicle left before they arrived, but they were able to provided information. The officers then began searching for the suspect vehicle.

The officers found a man leaving the suspect vehicle and walking into his home along Hebert Avenue, a few blocks from the crash site, according to police.

Department officials said the officers had to force their way into the suspect’s home, where they arrested Hauge, 63.

The woman struck by the vehicle was recovering, according to the news release. The Police Department thanked bystanders who helped the woman and assisted officers in finding the suspect.
