Sacramento man gets 18 years in prison for pimping and human trafficking, DA says
A Sacramento County judge has sentenced a 40-year-old man to 18 years and eight months in prison for forcing two victims into prostitution by using coercion, threats and violence, prosecutors said.
Superior Court Judge Ernest Sawtelle sentenced Lejon Nunnelly on Tuesday, according to court records. On Aug. 4, Nunnelly pleaded no contest to charges of human trafficking and pimping.
Nunnelly forced the victims into prostitution from 2017 through 2019, according to a news release from the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office. The prosecutors said Nunnelly also forced the victims to give him the money they made through prostitution.
The victims tried to leave Nunnelly on various occasions. Prosecutors said Nunnelly would then track down the victims and used violent assaults and sexual abuse, along with verbal and written threats, to get the victims to continue working for him.
Investigators found social media messages and videos in which Nunnelly discussed his pimping, recorded his abuse of the victims and threatened the victims, according to prosecutors.
