Woman dead, man injured in South Natomas shooting, Sacramento Police say

A woman was killed and a man injured in a shooting early Friday in South Natomas, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

Officers arrived around 1 a.m. to the 2600 block of Stonecreek Drive in response to a reported shooting and located a man and a woman with gunshot injuries, the Police Department said in a news release.

Both were transported to a hospital, where the woman was pronounced dead later Friday morning, police said. The man is expected to survive.

Homicide detectives are investigating the deadly shooting, and authorities believe the suspect fled the scene before police arrived, according to the news release. No suspect description was available, and motive for the shooting remains under investigation.

The victim’s identity will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office pending notification of family.
