Illegal car sideshows that moved through Sacramento led to three arrests Saturday, police say
Three car chases led to three arrests and one towed vehicle related to weekend sideshows that moved both through the city and county of Sacramento, according to the Sacramento Police Department.
The number of people involved in Saturday’s illegal sideshows wasn’t disclosed, but Police Department spokesman Officer Karl Chan said illegal car shows typically attract hundreds of participants and spectators.
Saturday proved to be busy night for officers on duty — in addition to the sideshows, the Aftershock Festival let out and a homicide investigation unfolded on top of basic calls for service, Chan said.
Gov. Gavin Newsom recently signed a law meant to prevent sideshows. The law, which does not go into effect until 2025, allows courts to order a driver’s license suspension for up to six months, The Sacramento Bee reported.
