Citrus Heights police seek help identifying suspect in shooting that injured store clerk

Police investigators on Wednesday were asking the public to help identify a man suspected in the shooting of a 7-Eleven store clerk earlier this week in Citrus Heights.

The shooting was reported by the store clerk about 8:15 p.m. Monday at the 7-Eleven on the corner of Auburn Boulevard and Greenback Lane. The convenience store clerk called 911 and said he had been shot, according to a news release from the Citrus Heights Police Department.

Officers arrived within minutes of the 911 call and found the clerk outside the store. Police said the clerk was suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body.

Officers searched the area for the suspect, who left after the shooting, but did not find anyone matching the suspect’s description. The store clerk was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he was treated for his injuries, according to police.

The Police Department posted a photo of the shooting suspect on social media Wednesday. The photo shows a man wearing black pants, what appears to be a black hooded-sweatshirt and a black mask covering the lower portion of his face.

Police officials did not release any other details about the shooting or what might have led to the violent confrontation.

Investigators asked anyone with information about this shooting or the suspect to call the Citrus Heights Police Department’s crime tip line at 916-727-5524 and refer to case number 21-08149. Callers can make confidential tips.
