Stockton motorcyclist killed in crash on Sacramento highway interchange, CHP says
A man from Stockton was killed Saturday in a crash while riding a motorcycle through a Sacramento highway interchange, according to the California Highway Patrol.
In a news release, the South Sacramento CHP division said the 29-year-old motorcyclist was riding a 2013 Harley-Davidson southbound on Interstate 5 just after 3:30 p.m., headed into the interchange onto eastbound Highway 50.
While taking a right turn onto the Highway 50 transition, the motorcyclist drifted to the left, crashing into a concrete railing on the east side of the highway. He was thrown from the motorcycle and fell 60 to 70 feet onto a lower roadway, according to the CHP.
The rider suffered fatal injuries from the fall. CHP investigators are still unsure whether drugs or alcohol were a factor.
The name of the motorcyclist will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after notifying his next of kin.
