Police say a 74-year-old woman suffered a “major cardiac episode” shortly after people threw eggs at her when she confronted them about riding motorized scooters at a Woodland park.

The incident happened Sunday afternoon at Campbell Park on Thomas Street, the Woodland Police Department said in a Friday news release, and the woman remains in a cardiac intensive care unit.

“At last check, the woman is in stable condition,” authorities wrote. “However, the extent of the damage caused from her cardiac episode is unknown and her recovery is still uncertain.”

The victim had reported to police dispatch that she “yelled at the suspects for riding motorized scooters in the park.”

“The suspects threw eggs at the woman and left the park,” the news release continued. “When the officer arrived, the woman got out of her vehicle, said she was not feeling well and fell to the ground.

“Unbeknownst to the officer, she was suffering a major cardiac episode. Additional officers, Woodland Fire Department and AMR ambulance rushed to the scene.”

Officers used a defibrillator and performed CPR until the Fire Department and ambulance arrived.

“After using the AED and performing CPR, the victim’s heart and respiratory health appeared to be improving,” police wrote. She was taken to a hospital.

Police did not have any suspect descriptions available, and it was not clear how many people may have been involved.

The department is asking for public assistance in identifying any possible suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call 530-666-2411.
