Boy, 15, dies days after south Sacramento hit-and-run. Mercedes driver still sought

hit and run fatality

A teenage boy struck in a hit-and-run late last week in south Sacramento has died of his injuries.

The victim has been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as 15-year-old Isiah Walls of Sacramento.

The teen was walking in a crosswalk on northbound Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near 47th Avenue around 7:45 p.m. last Friday when a black Mercedes ML300 SUV hit him, the California Highway Patrol’s South Sacramento office said in a weekend news release. The vehicle, which had a green light at the intersection, briefly pulled over but then drove away from the scene, authorities said.

The collision threw the victim’s body across the intersection and onto a sidewalk, CHP officials said. Walls was taken to a hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.

Walls succumbed to his injuries Tuesday, according to the coroner.

The suspect vehicle, which the CHP says has license plate No. 6GYR199, remains sought. Anyone with information on the vehicle’s whereabouts is asked to call CHP South Sacramento at 916-897-5600.
