Update: Placer County sheriff’s K9 found by resident after getting lost near Granite Bay
A Placer County Sheriff’s Office K9 was found Sunday afternoon after getting lost Saturday near Granite Bay.
Officials with the Sheriff’s Office posted to social media Saturday night, asking residents to keep an eye out for Axel, a K9 unit who managed to get away from a dog sitter around 7 p.m. near Horseshoe Bar Road and Auburn Folsom Road.
By 1:15 p.m. Sunday, the Sheriff’s Office sent out an update on social media, saying that Axel had been found by a resident who spotted him in her yard two miles away from where he was last seen. After calling dispatchers, the K9 was retrieved by deputies.
Described as a “creative fella” by deputies, the Belgian Malinois was acquired by the Sheriff’s Office in 2019.
