Homicide detectives were investigating the death of a man found with gunshot wounds Monday night in a Rancho Cordova neighborhood, sheriff’s officials said.
About 7:10 p.m., a resident in the 2000 block of West La Loma Drive, just north of Folsom Boulevard, called authorities to report the sound of several gunshots, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office announced in a news release Tuesday. A second caller soon after also reported hearing gunshots.
Rancho Cordova police officers arrived in the area and found the injured man with “multiple gunshot wounds to his body,” sheriff’s officials said. The officers performed life-saving measures until medics arrived moments later and pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office said there was no suspect information or further details about the fatal shooting available to release.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the man killed in the shooting after his family has been properly notified.
