Shasta County man arrested in connection with fatal Sacramento County shooting

A Shasta County man was arrested on suspicion of shooting another man to death in Sacramento County, north of Lemon Hill.

In a news release, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said that Larnell Looney, 38, was taken into custody and booked into jail in connection with Thursday’s fatal shooting.

An unidentified man was shot and killed in the 4700 block of Roosevelt Avenue about 5:40 p.m.

First responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene. At the time, Sheriff’s Office officials said that the victim was believed to have been targeted by the shooter.

According to jail records, Looney is in custody at the Sacramento County Main Jail and ineligible for bail. He faces a felony murder charge. He was booked into jail just before 1 a.m. Saturday.
