‘Grab and run’ theft at Folsom Kohl’s store leads to Sacramento County chase, 4 arrests
Authorities arrested four people, including three Bay Area adults, after a brazen theft Sunday night at a Kohl’s store in Folsom led to a high-speed vehicle chase that ended with the recovery of thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise.
Joshua Rosemon, 22, of Napa; Morgan Pearson, 20, of Napa; and Zaira Russell, 21, of San Francisco were arrested on suspicion of organized retail theft, according to the Folsom Police Department.
Sgt. Andrew Bates, a Folsom police spokesman, said a juvenile also was taken into custody at the end of pursuit.
Shortly after 7 p.m., the Police Department received a report of a “grab and run” theft at the Kohl’s store in the 1000 block of Riley Street, Bates said. There were no weapons or force used to commit the store theft, he said. The suspects had left the area in a vehicle before police arrived.
Bates said officers spotted a vehicle matching the suspect description and tried to pull it over on Folsom Boulevard, but the vehicle failed to stop. A police pursuit ensued, reaching unsafe speeds of 100 mph, when the officers decided to end their chase.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office took over the pursuit along Highway 50, which ended about 20 minutes after police started chasing the vehicle in Folsom. Deputies took the suspects into custody.
Bates said there were no injuries reported during the chase, and investigators recovered about $2,000 worth of merchandise stolen from the Kohl’s store. He said investigators also recovered merchandise stolen from a Roseville store before the Folsom theft.
Rosemon, Pearson and Russell were booked at the Sacramento County Jail. Only Rosemon and Pearson remained in custody Monday afternoon with their bail amount set at $50,000 each. All three also were arrested on suspicion of evading police by driving recklessly, according to police.
Jail records indicated Rosemon and Pearson also face charges of criminal conspiracy and child endangerment.
