Sacramento police arrest two juveniles in shooting that injured boy near Meadowview
A report of a shooting near Sacramento’s Meadowview neighborhood led police officers to find three male youths; one with a gunshot wound and two others arrested as suspects. The arrests also led investigators to find and confiscate several guns.
The shooting was reported about 4:40 p.m. in the area of 24th Street and Florin Road, according to the Sacramento Police Department. Officers arrived at the scene and found a male juvenile with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his foot, police said. Officers provided aid to the victim before he was taken to a hospital.
Officers found evidence related to the shooting and several residents told police that more than one person had been struck by gunfire.
The Police Department’s South Gang Enforcement Team assisted with the shooting investigation and later found the identified suspect vehicle in front of a home. Police said the gang enforcement officers “coordinated a plan to safely contact the individuals that were inside the residence.” The officers identified a male juvenile inside the home as a suspect in the shooting and arrested him.
Shortly after, another male juvenile suffering with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound arrived at a hospital. Police said officers identified this male youth as an another suspect in the shooting. Officers arrested him after he received medical treatment. The Police Department did not release any further details on the youths arrested because they are minors.
During the shooting investigation, officers also found and seized seven illegally-possessed guns, police said.
