14-year-old girl hospitalized after shooting in Antelope, sheriff’s officials say
A 14-year-old girl was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries after a shooting early Wednesday morning in Antelope, sheriff’s officials said.
The shooting happened in the area of Watt Avenue and Blackfoot Way, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Rodney Grassmann confirmed.
“The suspect drove next to (the) victim vehicle, shooting inside and hitting a teenage girl,” Grassmann said.
The victim’s injuries are believed to be life-threatening, Grassmann said.
He said there were two teenagers inside the vehicle, but that only one was shot.
Deputies continue to search the area for a suspect. No suspect description was available.
Several sheriff’s vehicle remained at the scene Wednesday morning, with investigators focused on an unoccupied, white SUV with all of its doors open stopped on northbound Watt.
A stretch of northbound Watt Avenue remained closed until early afternoon, the Sheriff’s Office said in social media posts.
