Police investigate shooting death of man on El Camino Avenue in Old North Sacramento
Detectives were investigating the shooting death of a man found injured Monday afternoon in Old North Sacramento.
The shooting was reported about 3:45 p.m. in the 800 block of El Camino Avenue, just east of Del Paso Boulevard. Officers arrived at the scene and found the man suffering from at least one gunshot wound, the Sacramento Police Department announced Monday evening in a news release.
Police said the officers tried life-saving efforts before medics from the Sacramento Fire Department arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the man’s name once his family has been properly notified.
Detectives and crime scene investigators took over the homicide investigation and will be canvassing the area, looking for evidence and witnesses, according to the news release.
Police said the shooting investigation was in its early stages, information was limited and the circumstances surrounding the man’s death remained under investigation. Detectives did not have any suspect information to release.
