Woman dead, man arrested after stabbing attack in North Sacramento, police say
A man was arrested Saturday after a woman died from multiple stab wounds during an assault in North Sacramento.
The Sacramento Police Department said officers were called about 12:30 p.m. to the 3200 block of Norwood Avenue in the West Del Paso Heights neighborhood for a report of an assault and found a woman who had been stabbed.
The victim, who was not identified, was taken to a hospital where she died, according to police.
Officers detained a man at the scene, later identified as Sergio Lua-Torres, 23. He was arrested on suspicion of homicide and booked at Sacramento County Main Jail. Jail records for Lua-Torres, a resident of Sacramento, could not be found Sunday.
In a news release, the agency said Lua-Torres and the victim “were known to each other,” but said the investigation into the incident was ongoing.
