Couple found dead in Sacramento; husband said he shot his wife, wanted to shoot himself
Officers on Monday found a married couple dead inside a Sacramento home after a husband called authorities to report he had shot his wife and was going to shoot himself.
About 6 a.m., officers were called to investigate a reported disturbance involving a possibly armed suspect in the 7700 block of Telfer Way in Sacramento’s Parkway neighborhood.
The caller told authorities he had shot his wife and was going to shoot himself, the Sacramento Police Department said in a news release Monday evening.
The officers and Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene and deployed unmanned aerial drones to safely get a look inside the home. Police said drone video confirmed a man and a woman were inside the home, and each person appeared to have at least one gunshot wound.
Officers then entered the home and confirmed that both people inside were dead. Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators arrived at the home and took over the shooting investigation.
Detectives confirmed the man and woman found in the home were married. Police said investigators believe the shooting was an “isolated incident with no outstanding threat to the community.”
The identities of the deceased will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office pending notification of family.
The Police Department asked anyone with information about this fatal shooting to call officers at 916-808-5471 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-4357. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the P3 Tips website and app.
