Jogger dies after vehicle hits him at rural road intersection near Woodland, CHP says
A jogger died Friday after a vehicle struck him as he was running through a rural road intersection just south of Woodland in Yolo County, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The fatal vehicle collision with the pedestrian was reported about 4:40 a.m. at the intersection of County Road 98 and County Road 25A, according to a news release from the CHP Woodland Area Office.
The Yolo County Coroner’s Office on Friday afternoon said the jogger was male, but he had not yet been positively identified.
The CHP said the jogger was running west on the north side road shoulder of County Road 25A, and he was approaching County Road 98.
Alberto Solorzano, 38, of Woodland was driving a 2011 Cadillac south on County Road 98 and approaching County Road 25A, according to the news release.
The CHP said the jogger, for unknown reasons, continued running west into the intersection directly in the path of the Cadillac, and the front of the vehicle hit him. The jogger was thrown to the ground and died from his injuries.
Solorzano did not suffer any injuries. The CHP said investigators did not suspect drugs or alcohol were a factor in this collision.
Investigators asked anyone with information about this fatal traffic collision to call CHP at 530-662-4685.
