Fight at Feather Falls Casino leads to Butte County man’s death and a homicide arrest
A Butte County man is dead and another was arrested on suspicion of homicide after a fight at Feather Falls Casino in Oroville, sheriff’s officials said.
About 4:20 p.m. Monday, deputies were called to respond a fight between two people at Feather Falls Casino on Alverda Drive, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday in a news release. Callers reported one of the people involved in the fight was not breathing.
Deputies arrived and found an injured man, later identified as Dennis Wold, 55, of Chico, inside the casino. Sheriff’s officials said medics arrived at the casino to provide aid, but Wold was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators determined Michael Livermore, 37, of Oroville was involved in the fight with Wold. Sheriff’s officials said Livermore “fled the scene on foot immediately” after the fight.
Deputies launched an extensive search of the area surrounding the casino, found Livermore and took him into custody without further incident.
Detectives found evidence “that gave them cause to believe Livermore’s actions caused” Wold’s death, sheriff’s officials said. Livermore was arrested on suspicion of homicide and booked at the Butte County Jail.
The Sheriff’s Office is asked anyone with information about this homicide to call detectives at 530-538-7671.
