Sacramento man sentenced on drug charge. He was found in 2018 with 30 pounds of meth

A Sacramento man has been sentenced to nearly 18 years in prison for illicit drug trafficking, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Gabriel Arauza, 33, of Sacramento, was arrested in August 2018 after law-enforcement officers said they found 30.5 pounds of methamphetamine in his home.

U.S. District Judge Troy L. Nunley sentenced Arauza to 17 1/2 years in prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert announced.

Arauza previously had been convicted of felony drug charges, including state drug trafficking convictions in 2013 and 2015, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

The latest case was the work of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office and Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Justin Lee and Aaron Pennekamp prosecuted the case.
