A Roseville man was found guilty by a jury this week of murdering his wife in early 2018.

David Tefera, 58, was convicted Monday in Placer County Superior Court of first-degree murder in the death of 45-year-old Tsegereda Tefera.

Police responded to the couple’s home on Wighill Circle the afternoon of Jan. 19, 2018, after David Tefera called law enforcement to report finding his wife dead, the Roseville Police Department said in previous statements.

Placer County coroner’s officials determined Tsegereda Tefera’s death to be a homicide, and detectives arrested David Tefera the following month, police said at the time.

A jury convened in mid-April and heard “multiple weeks of evidence” before handing down the guilty verdict, the Placer County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release.

Teferas is scheduling for sentencing June 3. He remains in custody at the Placer County Main Jail in Auburn.
