Woodland police find ghost gun, parts and tools to make more; Sacramento man arrested

Police tape at crime scene

A Sacramento man was arrested Tuesday in Woodland after an officer found a “ghost gun” in a vehicle along with other parts and tools used to make a privately manufactured gun, police said.

About 3 a.m., the officer was patrolling the area near Hays Lane and County Road 102 and spotted a suspicious vehicle, the Woodland Police Department announced in a social media post.

The officer found Kevin Johnson, 55, in the vehicle. Police said the officer noticed a handgun tucked underneath Johnson’s leg and detained him for further investigation.

The handgun was determined to be a privately manufactured gun without a serial number, commonly known as a ghost gun, according to the Police Department.

The officers searched the vehicle further and found parts and tools to make a ghost gun, police said. Johnson was arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of a gun, possessing a high capacity ammunition magazine and violating probation.
