Person shot on Sacramento RT light rail train during altercation near Florin station

Police tape at crime scene

One person was shot on a Sacramento Regional Transit light rail train Tuesday evening amid an altercation between three people, authorities said.

The incident began as a fight between three male passengers shortly before 7:30 p.m. in south Sacramento, on a Blue Line train bound for the Florin light rail station, RT spokeswoman Devra Selenis said.

The fight “resulted in one person going to the hospital with a non-life threatening injury from a gunshot wound,” Selenis said.

Two of the three males were “possibly juveniles,” Selenis said. It was not clear if the shooting victim was one of the possible juveniles.

Selenis said no arrests had been made in the incident as of Wednesday morning.

RT put a bus bridge in place between the Florin and Cosumnes River College stations due to police activity, the agency said in social media posts. Normal service on the Blue Line resumed around 9:40 p.m.
