Deputies arrested a Sacramento County man this week in connection with a deadly May shooting in Carmichael, authorities said.

Stephen Craig Beasley, 37, was arrested and booked on suspicion of homicide in the May 13 death of 41-year-old Lee Darrelle Ross, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Ross had been shot around 9:30 p.m. that night inside a vehicle in the 2400 block of Camino Park Court, sheriff’s officials said in a statement at the time, and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding fire personnel.

Beasley was booked Monday evening into the Sacramento County Main Jail downtown on a count of murder as well as a misdemeanor charge of carrying a loaded unregistered handgun, jail records show.

Beasley, who is ineligible for bail, is due to appear in Sacramento Superior Court at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
