One person was shot in an attempted carjacking early Friday in Foothill Farms, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department said, with the assailant fleeing on foot.

The incident occurred about 3:48 a.m. on the 5000 block of Andrea Boulevard, according to department spokesman Lt. Rod Grassmann. When the victim did not give up their vehicle, they were shot in the leg and hand.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, Grassmann said.

No additional information has been released about the suspect, who fled on foot and had not been caught, Grassmann said.
