Yuba City police arrested a suspect this week in a July shooting that left a man dead and a woman injured.

Police responded around 8 p.m. July 17 to a shooting near the 300 block of Monterey Avenue, where they located a man with multiple gunshot injuries, the Yuba City Police Department said in an updated news release. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Dispatchers were then notified of a second victim in the shooting, who self-transported to a hospital with a single gunshot wound.

Detectives identified the shooting suspect as 23-year-old Rigoberto Bueno Jr., of Yuba City, according to the news release.

Yuba City police on Tuesday morning arrested Bueno on a felony warrant in connection with the shooting, and he was booked into the Sutter County Jail on a homicide charge.

His bail is set at $1 million, jail records show.

The Police Department said its investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
