Sacramento police investigate latest shooting that wounded man along 75th Street
Sacramento police officers on Wednesday afternoon were investigating a shooting that wounded a man in the Southeast Village neighborhood.
The shooting occurred in the 6400 block of 75th Street, in a residential neighborhood just south of Elder Creek Road.
The man wounded in the shooting was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, the Sacramento Police Department said shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Police said officers were still at the shooting scene investigating the circumstances of what occurred.
A recent wave of gun violence has killed five people in three days in Sacramento. A shootout between two people early Sunday outside a midtown sports bar left one man dead and another facing illegal gun possession charges.
That was followed late Monday with two more shootings, which police don’t believe are connected to each other. Two people, including a 17-year-old boy, were found with fatal gunshot wounds inside a parked vehicle in South Natomas. The other shooting Monday night occurred in North Sacramento’s Strawberry Manor district where one person was killed and another man was wounded.
Then, another man was killed Tuesday morning in a shooting in Oak Park near Sixth Avenue and 37th Street. Police have said there’s nothing to indicate the fatal shootings are linked.
